Premium Rate Calculation and Modal Factors – Transamerica Final Expense
Transamerica’s Final Expense Solutions offer permanent life insurance coverage with level premiums and a one-time policy fee. Premiums are guaranteed not to increase for the life of the policy and vary by plan type, age, gender, and rating class. Payment modes are flexible and designed to accommodate clients on a budget or fixed income.
Policy Fee
A non-refundable policy fee of $42.00 is applied to every Transamerica Final Expense policy. This fee is the same regardless of age, face amount, or rating class.
Accepted Payment Modes & Modal Factors
The following modal factors apply to all plans:
Payment Mode | Modal Factor |
---|---|
Annual | 1.00 |
Semi-Annual | 0.52 |
Quarterly | 0.265 |
Monthly EFT or Direct Express® | 0.086 |
Premium Calculation Example
Assume a client qualifies for a $15,000 Immediate Solution policy with a Preferred Nontobacco rating. The annual rate is $40.18 per $1,000. Here's how to calculate monthly EFT premiums:
- Base Premium: 15 units × $40.18 = $602.70
- Plus Policy Fee: $602.70 + $42.00 = $644.70
- Monthly EFT Premium: $644.70 × 0.086 = $55.44/month
Optional Rider Cost Examples
- Accidental Death Benefit Rider (ADR):
$15,000 coverage = 15 units × $2.95 = $44.25 annually
$44.25 × 0.086 = $3.81/month - Children’s/Grandchildren’s Rider (CGR):
$5,000 total for four children = $20.00/year
$20.00 × 0.086 = $1.72/month
Total Monthly Premium: $55.44 (base) + $3.81 (ADR) + $1.72 (CGR) = $60.97/month
